Christopher and Katie enjoyed a beautiful wedding day on the beach front of Ocean Edge's Resort and Golf Club, in Brewster, MA. The amazing
thing is that I happened to know one of the groomsmen, Michael, since he was a young boy, my being good friends with his uncle. It goes to show how connected we all are. Weddings are such a special occasion where families and friends come together to renew share
in witnessing a couple's vows to one another, and also, to renew their own ties. I feel very fortunate to have been selected to participate in Christopher and Katie's wedding by the sea.
The bridesmaids and flower girl were enjoying the perfect weather on this beach, though there was a huge bumblebee that kept hovering under the boardwalk - a walkway that just happened to be created for the bridal party to make their entrance. Fortunately, this bee was the most docile bee one could bump into, though its size was quite intimidating for the women as they walked with their beautiful flower bouquets. My wife Lianne took this fabulous shot of the flower girl walking up the aisle, totally unaware that this bee friend was hovering near her hair, as if it were desiring to join her for the festivities.
It was an unseasonably hot day on this beach, and many beachgoers were curiously moving closer to our altar on the sand. Peeking at Katie as she descended down the wooden stairwell, all were taken with her beauty as her white dress' diamonds sparkled in the sun. Smiling as her she walked with her dad, her elbow entwined within his, Christopher's eyes were sparkling too, waiting beside me at the flowered altar in anticipation of her arrival.
There were special readings from relatives and messages of love and support for this beautiful couple. Families who had been sitting or reading or swimming on the beach were inching closer and closer as my service progressed, eager for the moment when I announce that they are indeed married.
Christopher and Katie were so excited and nervous; I could see their enthusiasm in their eyes as they looked at each other with such a wonderful fondness. The seagulls were circling above as if to get a special viewing, squawking in the sunlight. Our friend the bee was still hovering under the boardwalk, watching the procession and flowers held by each participant. All was truly special this day for this handsome couple!
I feel so blessed to be able to officiate so many beautiful weddings on the shores of Cape Cod, and Christopher and Katie's wedding is no exception. May you both enjoy your lives together, with the birds and the bees hovering nearby, graced by the sounds of the sea and the laughter and joyful words of your family and friends.
Congratulations Christopher and Katie!
