Kevin & Cortnie's Wedding, Forest Beach, Chatham, MA

The day was grey and misty, as is often the case for a typical Cape Cod June wedding. But for Cortnie and Kevin, their family and friends, this was no ordinary day!

The rain had held off for the grand majority of the day, so they decided to brave it and take the risk. Armed with umbrellas, parkas, jackets, and hats, their guests arrived on the sands of Forest Beach to witness Kevin and Cortnie share their custom vows, to exchange wedding rings, and ultimately have that romantic kiss when I announced them to be "husband and wife".

As Kevin, his groomsmen and I stood nearby the seashore, musicians played special songs selected by this lovely couple. Kevin seemed relaxed, and he and I shared a few laughs as we waited for his bride's arrival.

The limo pulled up and Cortnie and her dad strolled onto the beach, arm in arm, huge smiles on each of their faces; they looked serene and as they walked, one realized how much she and her dad had that special connection just prior to her wedding service.

For the service, Cortnie and Kevin shared custom vows, exchanged rings, and shared that special wedding kiss amidst applause from their audience. It was raining harder at this point, yet the vibrant smiles and the love that permeated the beach offset any weather disappointments. All was grande!

Yet, back at the parking lot, a small glitch was developing; the limo driver was realizing that the vehicle would not start again, once parked. As much as he tried, the sleek limo's engine was not even turning over. The photographer was still working with the bridal party, but he knew that within 10 minutes, the wedding bridal party were going to be ready to be escorted to the Wayside Inn in Chatham, where they would have their reception.

The police detail officer was talking with the limo driver as me and Lianne left the beach. I happened to have jumper cables in our car, so we loaned them to the police officer for jumping the limo with his car. It was quite stressful for the limo driver. It turns out, it wasn't the battery that had gone dead - I jumped into the driver's seat and moved the shift into gear ( it had somehow gotten locked) to which the limo driver was so excited, Lianne snapped a quick shot of his elated face! All's well that ends well!

I'm not sure that Kevin and Cortnie are aware that their Reverend saved the day, but I am sure her parents told the story over a nice drink at the Wild Goose Tavern at the Wayside Inn.

Congratulations Kevin and Cortnie! I will always be grateful for your including me in your special day at Forest Beach in Chatham. May your days together be filled with joy and laughter!
